Why You Must Reset Your Time Horizon

July 28, 2014

What’s your time horizon?

“I’ve got 5 years to go”

“No one will hire me at 61.”

“I think we’ve got one more renewal on our contract before they terminate us.”

Have you imposed an expiration date on your career, on your business?

Why?

More importantly, how has that artificial construct (unless you actually have only 3 months to live it’s just a mind game that you’re playing on yourself) capped your life and your achievements?

Since we all like playing that game, the trick is operating on some levels (not all) as if we’ll live for a very, very long time. Like 153.

By “live,” I mean to continue to grow and prosper with complete and full function. And, that “we” includes both ourselves and our businesses.

For example, if you’re going to live to 153, then even though you’re already 52, you’ve hardly just begun and anything is possible.

Sure, it’s just a mind game. But it’s a very powerful one.

In fact, you’ve been playing it for years. You’ve just chosen the wrong number.

It’s time for a reset.
