What Does It Cost?

May 1, 2014

In a personal services business, from medical groups to acute care hospitals, what’s more important, your people or your tangible assets?

Many large entities clearly display their answer to this question. Emblazoned in large lettering on walls and featured prominently on websites, they state something akin to “people are our most important assets.”

That’s great, but what’s their real answer?

One way to find out is to see what they consider a cost and what they consider an investment. For example, if their policy is to issue an RFP seeking the lowest cost “vendor” for physician services, the real answer is clear.

So, keep your eyes open. This will prevent them from fooling you or, even worse, from you fooling yourself.
