The Magic Hat and Medical Group Strategy

December 4, 2013

When my son, Noah, was little, he told me that he had a magic hat. When he wore it, he could see the future.

Most medical group leaders could use a hat like that. Not that it’s really needed. In many cases the writing on the wall is clear.

Hospitals are building monopolies, employing and otherwise “aligning” physicians. National groups are competing as if on steroids. And many local medical groups feel as if they’re sailing in a thimble facing down a battleship.

So what’s your strategy? I hope it’s not to float with the tide. That’s almost everyone else’s strategy.

Oh, you’re wearing your magic hat.
