ACO Negotiation

ACOs and Negotiation

December 18, 2013

As healthcare becomes more concentrated, more hospital-centric, physicians should begin to question what rights and economic control they are ceding to the ACO or other hospital vehicle.

Many physicians believe that they have little to no negotiating power and if they believe that, it’s certainly true.

But if that’s the case, there’d never be negotiations in respect of an employment agreement (there is) and there’d never be negotiations in respect of an exclusive contract (there is).

So, it’s really an issue of what Henry Ford stated: If you believe you can, you’re right. If you believe you can’t, you’re right.

How right are you?
